As the bestof your garden's spring and summer foliage grows, it will attract a wide range of pests, from insects to rodents to unleashed pets. Here are some ways to discourage their presence without undue harm to humans, animals and the environment:
Common bugs can be controlled naturally with a soapy water spray, silicon oxide, or with insect predators like ladybugs or praying mantises (available for purchase online). If slugs are a problem, try seaweed spray or mulch. If these are successful in keeping away slugs, the threat of scavenging moles or raccoons will also be reduced. Other popular remedies worth trying against squirrels, dogs and cats are cayenne pepper, bone marrow and cirtus spray!
